The Family Web (Chapter Four)

I’m startled by my phone vibrating, just as I’m falling asleep.
A text message.
I groan and try to go back to the comfiness I was just in. It had taken me a while to quiet my anxious thoughts enough to relax. Whoever it is can just wait until morning.
My phone buzzes again.
And again.
Anxiety gradually pours into me as I realize whoever is trying to contact me is doing so with a sense of urgency. I open one eye, more alert now, and check my phone, hoping no one has been in any sort of accident.
After recovering from the assault of brightness from my screen, I see that Debbie has sent me a flurry of messages. I frown and click on them. Something must be wrong.
